Welcome to Retro Vehicle Restoration – located in North Yorkshire

First established as Dub-Werks in 2005 we quickly built up a good reputation in the North East for car restoration. Due to this we have now re-branded to Retro Vehicle Restorations Ltd as the demand for work & restoration on other classics increased. We mainly do full restoration work, but also partial restoration, mechanical and custom work.

We have decades of experience in classic vehicle restoration & maintenance, so you can be rest assured that your vehicle is in safe hands.

Why Choose Us / Our Approach

For more than twenty years, Richie has been restoring classic vehicles with the kind of depth, precision and mechanical understanding that only comes from a lifetime spent around real metal. His work is driven by an obsession with doing things properly from the way a shell is prepared to the way an engine breathes and a chassis feels on the road. Customers trust him because he’s upfront, easy to work with and completely transparent about what a car really needs.

No shortcuts, no glossing over problems, no surprises. His mission is simple: to keep classic vehicles relevant, reliable and out on the road where they belong, not fading away in garages. Retro Vehicle Restorations exists to honour these machines and to rebuild them with a level of care and engineering skill that stands the test of time.

1. Craftsmanship Over Convenience

Every restoration is built on precision, not speed. Ritchie’s approach has always been: if a job is worth doing, it’s worth doing properly. That means preparing shells the right way, repairing metal rather than hiding it, and building cars with methods that last decades and not months.

2. Engineering You Can Trust

With more than 20 years of hands-on mechanical experience, Ritchie brings an unrivalled understanding of how classic vehicles should drive, breathe and handle. From engine tuning to suspension geometry, everything is rebuilt with accuracy you can feel on the road.

3. Transparency From Day One

Owners want truth, not flattery. We provide clear assessments, honest recommendations and costed plans before work begins so there are no surprises, no vague promises, no hidden problems “discovered later”. You always know exactly what’s happening with your vehicle.

4. Preservation With Purpose

We’re dedicated to keeping classic vehicles relevant, reliable and roadworthy. That means respecting their original character while applying modern engineering standards where it improves safety, performance and enjoyment. Classics should be driven not left to fade in storage.

5. Built Around the Owner

Every project starts with understanding how you want to use your car. Show-car, long-distance tourer, fast-road restomod. Communication is open, relaxed and straightforward, so the process is as enjoyable as the outcome.

6. No Shortcuts, Ever

Shortcuts create problems later. That’s why we operate with a zero-compromise mindset: proper metalwork, correct preparation methods, careful sourcing, and meticulous assembly. We build restorations we’d be proud to own ourselves.

Above All we Take Pride in Every Detail

Whether it’s a weld you’ll never see, panel alignment you’ll notice every time you walk up to the car, or the feel of the gearbox on the first drive, the details matter. We obsess so you don’t have to. The result is a restoration that feels complete, coherent and genuinely special.
